Unit Updates! July 24th, 2015

This week the Coogarim/Goorim unit has gone through quite the shift with the transition from our Coogarim campers last week to our Goorim campers this week. Although we were sad to see our coogarim campers leave we couldn’t have been more excited to welcome home our new campers. The Goorim unit has already had a lot of fun this week from our all camp Hanukkah in July program full of delicious latkes and gelt, to our superhero program (water balloons included), to the super sly spy night we had last night. We can’t wait to celebrate with our Goorim campers tonight singing, dancing, and eating our way through our first Shabbat together. – Arielle Roter

Nemarim campers practiced their engineering skills to create containers to help raw eggs (from our farm!) survive a drop from the top of one of our greenhouses. Additionally, they created beautiful art pieces resembling stained glass to take home at the end of their session.  – Megan Sehr

Kochavim split in two for programming this week. Half of the unit created gorgeous window art that they’ll take home at the end of the session. The other half experienced a sunset appreciation and meditation activity on the knoll! Later in the week we had a program based off of The Lorax where we learned about conservation by working in the gardens around camp, followed by a spy night program that incorporated teamwork and investigative skills by searching for clues around camp!- Megan Sehr

Tzofim campers experienced Tisha B’av programming which included live action role playing (LARPing) and fort building to learn about the history of this lesser known holiday. Additionally we explored the topics of self care and yoga meditation. Our roller skating/lake day off camp was and awesome experience enjoyed by all! – Abbey Bell

Kesher has just gotten back to Arlington after three amazing days away from camp! We started off volunteering at Rainier Beach Urban Farm Wetlands and helped restore the wetlands there. We spent the next two days at Mt. Rainier camping, hiking, and eating s’mores! Finally we ended this amazing trip with a ‘broomball’ tournament at a local ice skating rink followed by a pizza party in town. Now we’re back on camp looking forward to the upcoming Shabbat! – Eyal Isoub
